ThermoBacon ("we," "us," or "our") operates the ThermoBacon refrigeration monitoring platform, including the website at thermobacon.com, the web application at app.thermobacon.com, and related hardware and services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and password. If you are invited to an organization, we collect the email address used for the invitation.

Sensor and Device Data

Our Service collects temperature, humidity, battery level, and signal strength readings from sensors and gateways connected to your account. This data is stored in association with your organization and is used to provide monitoring, alerting, and reporting features.

Notification Preferences

We collect your notification preferences, including email alert settings, SMS phone number (if SMS alerts are enabled), and preferred timezone and temperature unit. Phone numbers are stored solely for the purpose of sending alert notifications.

Usage Data

We collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) to maintain and improve the Service. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Send alert notifications via email and/or SMS when sensor thresholds are exceeded
• Send status digest emails if you have enabled them
• Send account-related communications (password resets, invitations)
• Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We share information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: We use third-party services to deliver notifications (Amazon SES for email, Twilio for SMS). These providers receive only the information necessary to deliver messages (your email address or phone number and the message content).
• Within your organization: Users within the same ThermoBacon organization can see shared sensor data, alerts, and zone information. Administrators can see the names and email addresses of organization members.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

5. SMS Messaging

If you enable SMS notifications, we will send text messages to the phone number you provide for the purpose of delivering refrigeration alert notifications. See our Terms of Service for full SMS program details, including message frequency and opt-out instructions.

Your phone number is stored securely and is used exclusively for sending ThermoBacon alert notifications. We do not share your phone number with third parties for marketing or any other purpose. Your consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.

6. Data Retention

Sensor reading data is retained for the duration of your account. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Alert history is retained for operational purposes and may be periodically archived or deleted.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords, and encrypted storage of third-party integration credentials. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. Your Rights

You may at any time:

• Update your account information and notification preferences through the Settings page
• Disable email or SMS notifications
• Request a copy of your data
• Request deletion of your account
